there is reasoning to your end
on the hook-
at the Knob Hill Farms market
we load up our shopping carts
the lungs, kidneys and heart
to prove that myth
that your hide isn't;
just another dairy product
i can taste their reassurances
displayed on the plastic trays
behind the counter,
your lifespan stored inside
i can taste the protein
coming thru the commercials
there is desire to have you, on the plate
low in fat and calories-
your slab and my fork,
oh so tasty.
