- About Yourself:
- My introduction to the world: The name is Joyelle also known as J. Evans, I'm an up and coming poet and author, who stutters but is determined to get my work out there to the open minded. Born and raised in the Bay Area, CA, now Los Angeles, CA is my new home. I’m currently a third year student at University of California, Riverside studying Sociology and Creative Writing. Money signs don't impress me much, it's not about how many books I sell it's about how many souls I can touch. I speak the truth, from the perspective of one but meant for everyone. I've never had the privilege to speak freely until I learned the power behind the pen; my thoughts remained confined in the comforts of my mind until I accepted the gift of writing. Now I'm prepared to step out of the box and fight the negative odds that are sleeping at my front and back door. The fake and phony are becoming a past tense, the faithful and the real more than deserve the chance to shine. To all who feel what I'm saying, let's support the movement, the transition from the too commonly addressed unrealistic verses to some free minded open hearted words of genuine complexity that the people can relate to. In less words, lets get this bull off the radio, TV and internet waves and encourage this real art to take over and inspire!
